How to Remove Trackbacks from Wordpress Blog

Trackbacks are annoying if they're coming from sources which has no relation to your blog's niche. Some trackbacks also comes from autoblogs and in turn you're passing traffic to such autoblogs which offer no value. In such a case it is always better to stop trackbacks from coming to your site. There are many ways with which you can stop the trackback, depending on your level of involvement with trackbacks on other blogs there are two known methods to stop trackbacks.  

Method 1 : Built-in Wordpress Setting

1. Log-in to your wordpress dashboard and navigate to Settings.
2. In settings tab click on Discussion menu.
3. There is group for 'default article settings'
- Uncheck the following- Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article. - Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.)

By unchecking these two options you'll eliminate the possibility of trackbacks by default from your wordpress blog.
You can also over-ride these settings per post but it's better if you uncheck posts as well.  

Method 2 : Wordpress Template Modification 1. Navigate to your theme from wordpress theme editor or from file manager. 2. Open comments.php and look for the following line :
< ? php foreach ($ comments as $ comment) : ? >
3. After this line paste the code posted below :
< ? php $ comment_type = get_comment_type(); ? >
< ? php if( $ comment_type == 'comment') { ? >
4. Now you need to close the PHP function, so locate the below line in your comments.php
< ? php endforeach; /* end for each comment */ ? >
5. Before this line you need to put the following code :
< ?php } /* End of is_comment statement */ ? >
Save the file and you're done. You don't have to do any other modification to remove trackbacks.
